  • Good room size with comfortable, firm beds
  • Convenient location close to public transport and main attractions

  • Calm and quiet environment inside the hotel despite nearby busy streets

Worth knowing

  • Noise disruption from nearby traffic, local shops, and morning street activity reported by some guests

About this property

Welcome to Capital O El Senador

Capital O El Senador is a casual hotel located in the Doctores neighborhood of Cuauhtémoc, Ciudad de México. The property features low-key rooms with a vintage vibe, complemented by an on-site restaurant and bar, The Jungle Coffee & Bar, that offers a relaxed atmosphere. Facilities include free Wi-Fi and parking, though guests should note that air conditioning, a fitness center, and airport shuttle services are not available.

The hotel operates with a check-in time of 14:00 and check-out by noon, suited to guests who prefer a straightforward and functional stay. While some travelers praise the friendly staff and good location, reviews also mention challenges such as limited room ventilation, noisy surroundings, and inconsistent Wi-Fi signal strength within rooms. These factors suggest a practical choice rather than a luxury experience.

Positioned near cultural landmarks such as Palacio de Bellas Artes, Museo Nacional de Antropología, and Constitution Plaza, the hotel is well placed for visitors interested in urban art, museums, and local events. The central area is also known for its urban art scene and attractions like the nearby toy museum and lucha libre wrestling at Arena México, making it suitable for those eager to explore the city’s cultural fabric.

Travelers have easy access to Mexico City International Airport Benito Juárez, approximately a 21-minute drive away. Several other hotels are in close proximity, offering alternative accommodation options within walking distance. Overall, Capital O El Senador appeals to budget-conscious visitors seeking a basic but centrally located place to stay with easy connections to significant city attractions.

I stayed here in September 2025, the rooms don’t have AC but this time of year it was fine without though the windows don’t open much so it’s hard to get fresh air. It is very noisy; loud traffic passing by on the road outside, car repair shops in the area, and every morning from 7am some guy yelling “AGUAAAAA” at the top of his lungs for hours. The wifi did not work from the room unless I was in the bathroom or right beside the entry door. Otherwise I really liked the place, staff were friendly, housekeeping were very good - they made up my room every day (I stayed 6 nights) and they never disturbed me at all so they were in and out without me even noticing. The area doesn’t have much nearby but a few minutes walk and you can reach some convenience stores, atms, metro connection, and small street food stands. It was about 15 mins walk to Roma and 20 to El Centro. I like to walk, it’s all flat and easily walkable so I thought this location was ideal right in the middle of it all. I didn’t feel unsafe at all, definitely nowhere near as bad as some of these earlier reviews make out.

Loved the place! I reserved in the last minute! The only thing I did not like was the fact that I had to wait until 3:00 p.m. when I arrive it was 12:15 p.m. and I did not read that on booking.com but I just waited and the lobby and proceeding at 3:00 pm the WiFi is not almost accessible in the room I was assigned. But overall nice and quiet!

**LIKED Allowed early check in. 7 mins to the metro. Breakfast was ok. Staff is helpful. **DISLIKED The only thing I didnt like that the room was extremely dusty. Floor and even windows was like not cleaned for 10 years. There were many ants on the floor, hairs and some dust materials were everywhere.

Update: I'm currently staying here for the 12th time in 9 years and it is still what I have come to expect! I've stayed here about 6 or 7 times within the last few years and it has always been a consistent and comfortable place to stay. I know I'm always going to get a huge, firm bed and a quick and easy check-in process. The rooms are always a good size and they are cleaned pretty well every day. I regularly walk to Centro Historico, Zona Rosa, Condesa, and Roma when I'm here with no problem. Hotel Senador always comes through when I need it to. You can't beat it for the price!

There are not many places to eat nearby, and it's a little further away from downtown Mexico City, but on the other hand, it's a very nice hotel with amazing service.

I loved this hotel. The value for money is absolutely amazing. The staff is super nice. The hotel was calm, room clean and big. I will come back. The only detail is the fact that the WiFi does not reach to the rooms well.
